Welcome to our Yoga Teacher Training Course!
We are excited to announce that our next training will begin on March 26 and until April 18. This Yoga Teacher Training program is designed for students who are interested in becoming certified yoga teachers and deepening their personal practice.
Our experienced instructors will guide you through the program, helping you to develop your skills and knowledge as a yoga teacher. The training includes both theoretical and practical components, and you will have the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by professional teachers.

Online sessions – March 26 – 30 2023 – Studying with Emma Slow – anatomy and physiology
Onsite training – April 1 – 16 2023 – Training with Janne Kontala and Emma Slow / April 9 (Sunday) – free day
Online sessions – April 18 – 24 2023 – Studying with Jan Simak – asana practice, meditation, and philosophy.
This YTTC 200h is taught by three experienced teachers: Janne Kontala, as the main trainer, Emma Slow, and Jan Simak.
They will offer students decades of vigorous practice, immersion in yoga philosophy, teaching experience, academic training, meditation, and personal development. Because we believe that yoga is much more than purely postural exercise, we fortified our 200h Yoga Teacher Training course with the 6-week online Introduction to Yoga philosophy course.
Studying the Yoga Sutra and the Bhagavad Gita brings students in touch with the sacred knowledge of the sages and unlocks deeper inner wisdom.
Daily schedule for the onsite training
The onsite training will take place in a beautiful spiritual environment. This place is situated in Durbuy and goes by the name of Radhadesh.

What you will learn in our yoga teacher training course.
Throughout the course, you will learn about the history and philosophy of yoga, as well as the physical and energetic practices of asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation.
You will also learn how to effectively teach these practices to others, including how to create and structure a yoga class, how to use language and demonstration to effectively communicate with your students, and how to provide hands-on assistance and modifications.
Teaching practice
Hands-on skills for assisting your students. How to plan a class and approach a teaching situation (sequencing rules, adapting class for different groups, etc.). Each student will teach one session as a lead instructor and will be required to assist when others are teaching.
Asanas (Hatha yoga practice)
Intended to take individuals deeper into an exploration of principles of alignment and the basics of foundation, breath, and movement.
Deepening the regular personal practice.
Central principles of effective techniques for personal practice. Developing a strategy to maintain scheduled daily or weekly time for practice.
Understanding and practice of yogic breathing.
Different aspects of breathing practices: Ujjayi breath; Viloma breath; Kapalabhati. How to bring awareness to feel the breath by observing the rhythm of their inhalation and exhalation.
Body – asana, alignment, and adjustment.
Postural alignment and principles of adjustment, modifications for certain conditions.
Ethics for yoga teachers.
Discuss the first two fundamental stages of Astanga yoga: Yamas and Niyamas.
Verbal instruction and demonstration.
Students will practice and learn how to use positive language to optimize verbal instruction within a class.
Meditation and recitation.
Various techniques of meditation and preparatory techniques, learning kirtan or chanting mantras together with others.
Applied anatomy and physiology.
Brief lectures on mechanics of joints and movement, skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, endocrine system, lymphatic system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. This section also prepares students to understand the basic risks involved with practicing during pregnancy. The course will not prepare the students for guiding a prenatal class.
Yoga philosophy.
The philosophical foundation of yoga and the key teachings of the traditional texts: the Bhagavad-gita and Yoga-sutras. How yoga philosophy provides several maps or instruction manuals for improving the quality of life and experience.

Janne Kontala
- Janne Kontala is a certified E-RYT500 yoga teacher and YACEP
- He has a Ph.D. in Religious Studies and is the author of Inner Yoga and a commentary on the Yoga Sutras
- Janne has been practicing yoga since 1992 and has trained in traditional ashram studies and contemporary applications
- He combines yoga philosophy, mantras, and mental stillness techniques with contemporary physically-oriented yoga
- Janne currently teaches in the Nordic countries and Benelux, educating both practitioners and teachers in the physical, meditative, and philosophical aspects of yoga.
Jan Simak
- Jan Simak (Jananivasa Dasa) is a registered Yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 200, RYT 500, YACEP).
- Originally from Germany, he is currently employed as a senior teacher trainer at the Byron Yoga Center (Australia), presenting a spectrum of topics including asana, pranayama, meditation, and philosophy.
- He also offers private classes, runs public studio classes, and hosts workshops in various countries.
- Still continuing to deepen his understanding of the tradition, he regularly travels to Malaysia to practice with and teach for his teacher and guide Jani Jaatinen (Gokulacandra Das)
Emma Slow
- Emma’s yoga journey began in 1999-2000 with Hatha and Ashtanga yoga
- She has been practicing slow yoga daily since 2009 with her teacher Janne Kontala
- Emma studied yoga therapy and has been teaching a variety of yoga classes since 2008 in Finland and abroad
- She currently trains with Janne Kontala to become a slow yoga instructor in Helsinki, Stockholm, and Oulu
- Emma is a registered Yoga Alliance teacher (E-RYT 200) and focuses on anatomy, body function, and therapeutic perspective in her teaching
- She emphasizes awareness and safety in her practices.

Registration
The yoga Teacher Training Course at Bhaktivedanta College Yoga School can be attended without special requirements. Some experience in practicing yoga is needed, of course, required but beginners are also encouraged to register.
Depending on the profile of students, they are split into smaller groups if required, based on their level of expertise. A small number of participants (maximum 17) guarantees the individual attention of trainers and personalized feedback.
The package prices also include Yoga Philosophy online course (no separate registration is needed). The price doesn’t include local travel.
